The origins of Reiki ....
Mikao Usui was born in 1865 on August 15th, in a little village called Yago in Southern Japan.
Mikao Usui, it is said, had a ’satori’ or enlightenment, although the Japanese cannot be translated accurately, and went on to devise The Usui System of Natural Healing. He wanted to share his abilities, to use Reiki, to teach and to heal, helping other people to become whole.

After spending his life teaching and healing, and passing on his wonderful knowledge to others, Usui died on March 9th 1926 after suffering a stroke.
Reiki was finally introduced by Hawayo Takata in the 1930s. Reiki can cause no harm and can only be used for the highest and greatest good of the recipient.
Reiki works alongside conventional medicine and deeply relaxes and relieves stress, which is the plague of modern society. Reiki also helps to promote the body to naturally heal itself.
